It was no surprise that John got the promotion. Everyone knows he’s the boss’s blue-eyed boy. Also, he was a real eager beaver, people person, go-getter, who was actively involved in the company’s development and, surely, he was made of money. A role model for many employees, in short.

Was Tommy jealous? Nope. Well, only if it’s a little. Little bit.

Okay, he was very jealous. VERY. And didn’t understand why superiors didn’t notice him. He was trying to be the salt of the earth. His allegiance to his job was more than to his family; he looked like a true company man.

Maybe it was because he was quiet as a mouse? During the years in the company, he had no friends among his colleagues. Most considered him a dead duck. And they’ve never invited him to the office’s parties. And every time he tried to come up and talk with them, John appeared on the horizon and everyone ran to him.

Tommy can swear that John is a dark horse. Something was definitely strange in him. Eternal smile, amazing appearance… He didn’t trust him —he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He knows it.
