The New Year is the most popular time for promises that never come true. Many people say that from January they will start a new life, give up bad habits, and start doing sports. But how often does this come true? January comes, but after a series of holidays there is no time to fulfill their promises.

Planning, on the other hand, does not allow you to simply say about your desire and then forget about it, but, on the contrary, forces you to act. When writing a plan, a kind of sorting takes place in my head, during which it is possible to understand what I really want to achieve in the new year. It is important to understand here that just writing a list of what you want to get next year is not enough. You will need to make an effort to implement your plan. Without this, none of these tools will work.

Identify important areas for yourself

There may be several of them: career, family, health, professional skills, self-development, finance. Think about what you would like to achieve in each area, how this can be achieved. If nothing comes to mind, then give yourself some time. It is very difficult to think through absolutely all aspects in an hour or two.

How do I write goals?

It is wrong to write “I want to make a lot of money”. You always need to indicate specific information, for example, “I want to make a million in a year”. In this case, motivation works much more efficiently, because an abstract definition turns into a concrete goal. Write the biggest tasks first, then break them down into sub-tasks. This can be done point by point, but there is another alternative — to schedule your actions by month. Using the example of the same income, you prescribe how much you should earn in each month, trying to take into account all the nuances.

You can print tables on separate sheets for each month, where you write down tasks for each area. Or simply allocate a space in your notebook for each month. Such planning is very convenient because it allows you to understand in advance what needs to be done from month to month in order to achieve the desired result. For example, you are planning your vacation in September, then in the spring you need to start preparing for it: buy tickets, book a hotel. You can choose excursions, buy clothes a little later, in the summer. All stages of preparation can be written monthly in your plan. Even if you do not schedule each month, the time frame for completing tasks must be specified.

Set serious goals

You may want to get a million rubles a year, which in fact will not be a problem for you, because you have already succeeded in this before. Then the task needs to be done on a larger scale so that there is something to strive for and where to grow, so feel free to write that you want to earn two million. In this case, you will have to look for ways to achieve the goal, try something new, go beyond what you did before. And the amount of effort involved will also need to be changed.

Make a draft

You can write out tasks and post them in a prominent place so that you can constantly see and re-read them for several days. Then for a certain time, say, a week, you will be able to weed out unnecessary goals and vice versa, remember more important ones.

At the end of the year, you can take stock, take into account why something was not achieved. And be sure to praise yourself for what you have achieved. And after that, on a wave of enthusiasm, continue the tradition and start planning goals for the next year again. This activity may seem boring, but planning is actually an effective method of making life easier.
