Wow! I was in England and if I don`t tell you about it, I’ll just burn with overflowing feelings of joy and impatience! So my trip to England, how did it happen?

After the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, my mother and I were a little scared. We decided that it was time to go abroad, friends offered us the option of creating a refugee visa for England, therefore, we quickly sent all the necessary documents and received a confirmation just a week after. It happened fast, we expected to wait for a month or even more.

The next week we met with our sponsors in the terrific town of Havant, they were Ian and Sarah! Native Englishmen with big and kind hearts! They were lovely, and they had a dog named George, my sister and I used to walk him by the sea all the time. The city of Havant became very close to me during my two months’ stay. I got used to English traditions, met other English people (they were sincere and always smiled), my mother and I helped the newly arrived Ukrainians to adapt.

It was cool to treat everyone to Ukrainian cuisine. I made borscht, my mother made cabbage rolls, my sister made honey cakes. Our new friends were fascinated by the variety of flavors.

I planned to go to university there, but it was too expensive to study there. I was shocked after visiting open days at universities! I was interested in film directing and cinematography. Their universities can be called real film studios with all the cutting-edge equipment. The enrollment to such a university is still my priority in the future.

And I passed the IELTS test with 7.5! I was a bit nervous before the exam, but once I was in the classroom, it reminded me of my annual exams at school, but at a higher level.

London…They say that a bad day in London is better that a good day anywhere else…I don`t know, I was there for only a day – but I have impressions for the rest of my life! A big city with ‘well-fit’ people, all unique and…serious. Who knows, maybe Oscar Wilde was right while saying about London, “Whether the fogs produce serious people or serious people produce fogs…” I tried to go around the most of the picturesque, but the day was definitely not enough.

In general, I had great impressions from that time –I will do everything to be there again!
