(short story)

In a small town in Switzerland lived a very talented girl Smeralda. The passion of her whole life was ballet. She literally couldn`t live without it.

At last, the final rehearsals before the most important concert in her life finished. It was supposed to be a credit concert, after which it would be clear whether she entered the University. Everything was ready: choreography, costume, make-up and hair. She took a deep breath and stepped onto the stage. Everything was like in slow motion. The first notes of the melody, the first movements and here… unexpectedly, the scenery, which was fixed under the ceiling, failed to stay fixed and fell on the ballerina. Sharp pain. Screams. Smeralda could not get up from the floor. The body did not obey her at all. And then – darkness…

She woke up in a hospital ward. Soon the doctor came and told what happened. Terrible words echoed in the dancer’s head, “You will never be able to dance again.”

At that time, an Angel was carrying out an assignment on the Earth. Before returning to heaven, he decided to rest and attend a concert. By a fateful coincidence, the Angel witnessed all the events with Smeralda. He felt sorry for the girl, so he decided to help her. He started visiting her in the hospital. After discharge, he helped with rehabilitation. They had a very strong friendship. She was very grateful and he was happy with her first steps. Thanks to his magical powers, the Angel was able to raise her to her feet, despite all the predictions of the doctors.

After another examination, the doctor told Smeralda that she had done the impossible. On the one hand, she was predicted that she wouldnt be able to walk without defects. On the other hand, she started dancing again. This was a miracle. So, the girl began to ask the Angel questions. He searched for an explanation for a very long time, but still could not confess everything. Surprisingly, she wasnt afraid and believed him. Unbeknownst to both of them, they fell in love with each other and could not imagine their lives without each other.

Unfortunately, the time came to say goodbye. The Angel flew back to the heaven, waiting for her. She tearfully let him go. He soared and she was left alone with a broken heart.

Already in heaven, the Angel couldn`t find a place for himself, he missed Smeralda very much. Therefore, he dared to do something that none of the angels had done before. He went to God to ask for permission to live on the Earth. Having told the whole story of their love, the Angel nervously waited for an answer. God was surprised at such a case, because there had never been such a relationship between a human and an angel. But seeing his eyes full of sincerity, God was moved and allowed the Angel to return to the Earth and stay there to live…However, the immortality was taken away by God.

Love is the strongest feeling in the world and nothing has the right to stand before it. Love conquers all.
