The modern system of education is very democratic and soft towards students. Since primary school, we know about student’s freedom of actions and choices in their Alma mater’s walls. All students have a voice inside educational establishments, they have their own student parliament and can choose the head of it. It calls, “self-government.” Let’s talk about it in more detail.

Student’s self-government is a governance process from the student’s side. This process brings together all active, smart, and creative students for the solution of important education and life issues, for the organization of different required or enjoyable events.

I can say, from my own experience, that students are the most proactive people in this world, so called ‘eager beavers’ and ‘idea hamsters’ rolled into one. They propose different ideas and methods how to modernize our education, how “to color” our daily routine in the university, and how to make study more effective and exciting. They truly want to cause an education revolution, to make their own correctives and new rules. It concerns both the educational process and students` lives. The members of the student’s self-government have close communication with the administration of the university, so they can inform them about all suggestions, ideas or complaints. If there are any problems with teachers, students always can connect with the head of the student parliament to deal with it.

Student parliament also has a lot of departments, that are in charge of different areas of student’s life. For example, the information department is responsible for delivering all news and announcements to the students; the event department always organizes events, parties, and concerts.

So, it is very cutting edge and constructive that universities allow their students to make important decisions, effecting the education process. Self-government allows students to feel their own value, independence, and equality with administration, lecturers, and scientists.
