Teamwork or Smart Boss

(essay)

The following essay takes a look at both sides of the argument.  Some people believe that good teamwork is what makes companies successful. Others feel that it is more important to have a good leader.

Firstly, let us take a look at a new word in the world of companies – turquoise organizations. Turquoise organizations are the next level of the development of consciousness, when standard concepts and approaches are challenged, and the organization begins to be perceived as a living organism, not a machine. Furthermore, there is no leader and big boss, who command employees. Facts say that some turquoise type companies are the most successful in their field of work. Such organizations consist of several teams: from 10 to 30 people. The team is responsible for everything that happens around it and can make all decisions that affect it independently. For example, Valve is an IT company from the USA, which has developed such game hits as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Dota 2, Stream. You’ve probably heard these names.

On the other hand having a leader in the company always creates discipline. In general, leaders do all the hard work and bring success to their company. In the case of turquoise companies, there can always be a person who pulls everyone to the bottom. And in this case, the leader is an important unit for solving problems. In my opinion, company like Apple with one leader could be successful all the time, but not only such organizations could be profitable.

To sum up, both arguments are faithful. Turquoise companies are a fairly new trend that has great potential when used properly. On the other hand, it is important to understand that turquoise governance is not a panacea for all problems and will not necessarily benefit all organizations.
