The Ukrainian music industry has a lot of famous and talented artists. And now it started getting new names. After russian invasion in our country, everyone recognized how important to create content in our native language. A lot of young people flashed up with an idea to write contempo, creative, and mainstream songs in Ukrainian, which has never existed on our platforms before. Thankfully, we have plenty of opportunities to share our art and to make the world hear it.

One of these new names is Vioria. It is an eighteen years old girl from Kyiv region, who was singing and sharing it on social media. The moment that turned everything upside down happened in April 2022. Vioria posted a Tik-Tok video with her song ‘Today is a war,’ which attracted attention to her personality and creativity. That is how a young girl became well-known to the audience.

Her next song ‘I just want back home’ was released in a few months on the YouTube channel of the “Black Beats” label, created in 2016. Now a lot of new young Ukrainian artists like Tery, Blessbaby, Krechet, and others have contracts with this label. The song video has almost 54 thousand viewers since July.

Vioria is a nickname, created from her real first name ― Violetta. She works mainly in a pop-rock genre of songs. But also, she is a founder of a new genre of music called kitty-rock. It means a soft sound of rock about teenage things like first love, first obsession, relationships with friends, and teenage feelings in general. The part “kitty” is also related to an Asian cartoon character Hello Kitty that is popular among teenagers, who like Asian culture and style (for example, anime).

So, the Ukrainian music industry is filled with new unique, creative, and avant-garde artists, who come up with new genres, forms, and sounds. It means that our cultural sphere is on the new stage of development. Further ― more!
