Ukrainian language: ‘for tick’ or necessity?

(essay)

Even in today’s fast and frenzy world, torn by the wicked war, people always want to unite in some communities or groups. The same great community is the nation. But each community, whether small or entire nation, always strives to have something, that unites it effectively, allows it to conduct a common and coordinated policy, and also when necessary to oppose or compete with opponents. One such important component for any community, including the nation, is the language.

Moreover, the language is so important that without it people just can`t imagine their full lives.

In all times of history, there were a huge number of Ukrainian writers, who tried to show all of our compatriots that the Ukrainian language is essential to us. Mykhailo Kotsyubinsky, Ivan Franko, Lesya Ukrainka and many others not only described the importance of the language for the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation as a whole but also used their native language so virtuously and skillfully that all readers of their works had an irresistible desire to read, write and speak in Ukrainian. These great people were engaged in the popularization of the Ukrainian language not in vain.

After all, they understood how vital it was for the formation of a strong Ukrainian nation and the further effective standing of its high status in opposition to other nations.

Of course, the language itself won’t allow the country to succeed, but it serves as a strong unifying factor that can play a very important role in the social, political and social life of any community at a critical moment.

It is worth mentioning that the Ukrainian language, which is becoming increasingly popular and often used, deserves real pride among those who own it. To understand this, it is enough to recall the long and rather difficult Ukrainian history. For a long time, Ukraine didn’t have its own independence and lived in extremely difficult times, nevertheless, the Ukrainian language continued to exist. It didn’t disappear, because it was used by both creative and ordinary people.

I believe that thanks to the preservation of the language for all this time the Ukrainian nation also has been preserved.

Every nation sometimes faces difficult and even dramatic periods in its history. To maintain faith in the future, in the coming of good times of the people’s union, the people need something that really unites them. Of course, one of the unification factors is the native language.

Thanks to it, the people of Ukraine preserved and will preserve the memory of their roots and will continue for a long time.
