Water

(short story)

George was terribly afraid of water. “You never know what is hiding in it. Will it be a poisonous hedgehog, a shark or mysterious power,” he always said.

Could he be called superstitious? Maybe.

Once, in childhood, his grandmother, who allegedly had the gift of foresight, told him that he would meet his death in the water. That is why he avoided water. In all his life, he never visited either the sea or the river, and even avoided swimming pools. In his old age, his paranoia went so far that he began to be afraid of the rain, hiding from it at home. “Water is water,” he said.

But no matter how he tried to escape from his fate, eventually it caught up with him.

George died by drowning in a bathtub.
