7 Simple Tips for Writing an Impressive Resume

(listicle)

Writing resumes is an important task for all young specialists and, though my personal experience is not so great, I think that the following tips will be useful for you.

  1. Keep it Simple and Smart. Your resume should be clear and concise. Use a simple and readable font like Arial or Times New Roman, in sizes 10-12. Avoid excessive graphics and complex formatting.
  2. Include Contact Information. Start your resume with your name, phone number, email address, and location. Make sure this information is up-to-date and easy to find.
  3. Use a Strong Summary Statement Write a brief summary at the top of your resume that highlights your key skills and career goals. There should be a few sentences that give an overview of who you are and what you bring to the table.
  4. Highlight Your Experience List your work experience in reverse chronological order, starting with your most recent job. Include the job title, company name, location, and dates of employment. Briefly describe your responsibilities and achievements in each role.
  5. Showcase Your Skills Include a section dedicated to your key skills. Use bullet points to list relevant skills, such as technical abilities, languages, or software proficiencies. Tailor this section to match the job you’re applying for
  6. Education and Certifications List your educational background, including the name of the institution, degree earned, and graduation date. If you have any certifications or additional training, include these as well.
  7. Proofread and Edit Make sure to proofread your resume for any spelling or grammatical errors. Ask a friend or family member to review it as well. A well-polished resume shows attention to detail and high professionalism.
