Coronaviruses are a large family of respiratory viruses that can cause diseases ranging from the common cold to severe acute respiratory syndrome.
The most common symptoms are headache, cough, fever and difficulty breathing, in some cases – diarrhea or conjunctivitis. The incubation period lasts from 2 days to 2 weeks.
How long does the virus persist on surfaces?
As noted by Harvard Health Publishing, the coronavirus can persist on the surface for quite a long time. For example, on a copper surface-up to 4 hours, on cardboard – up to 24, and on plastic and stainless steel-up to two or three days. Scientists also found that the virus can ” hang” in the air for up to three hours before the droplets fall and hit the surface.
Can COVID-19 be prevented or treated?
A vaccine isn’t currently available for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). No antiviral medication is recommended to treat COVID-19. Treatment is directed at relieving symptoms. Though, a number of Ukrainian doctors recommend Artemisia Absinthium droplets, Antivirus 7, and Silicon 3 tablets, as good antiseptic medications. Personally, I would add pine-tree forest hiking and sea coast strolling.
How could you protect yourself from coronavirus infection?
- Everyone needs to stay at home to help slow the spread of the
- The most important thing you can do to protect yourself is to keep your hands and surfaces clean. Keep your hands clean, wash them frequently with soap and water, or use a disinfectant. Also, try not to touch your mouth, nose, or eyes with unwashed hands (usually, such touches are unknowingly performed by us on average 15 times an hour.).
- Carry hand sanitizer with you so that you can clean your hands in any environment. Always wash your hands before eating.
- Be especially careful when you are in crowded places, airports, and other public transport systems. Avoid touching surfaces and objects in such places as much as possible, and do not touch your face.
- Carry disposable wipes with you and always cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze, and be sure to dispose of them after use.
- Do not eat food (nuts, chips, cookies, and other snacks) from shared packages or dishes if other people have dipped their fingers in them.
- Avoid greeting handshakes and kisses on the cheek until the epidemiological situation stabilizes.
- At work, regularly clean surfaces and devices that you touch (computer keyboards, General-use office equipment panels, smartphone screens, remote controls, door handles, and handrails).
What shouldn’t I do to protect against COVID-19?
CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) doesn’t recommend that healthy people wear a face mask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. Only wear a mask if a health care provider tells you to do so.
How to wear a medical mask correctly?
- Carefully cover your nose and mouth with the mask and secure it to reduce the gap between your face and the mask.
- Do not touch the mask during use. After touching the used mask, for example, to remove it, wash your hands.
- After the mask becomes wet or dirty, put on a new clean and dry mask.
- Do not reuse disposable masks. They should be discarded after each use and disposed of immediately after removal.
Phineas Taylor Barnum (an American showman, politician, and businessman) said: “The foundation of success in life is good health: that is the substratum fortune; it is also the basis of happiness. A person cannot accumulate a fortune very well when he is sick.”
The coronavirus is not OK, but we shall overcome. That`s OK!
