(opinion article)
Compared to the past, our young people generally enter the adulthood later. In the Middle Ages, if a child survived, she worked all her life long and by the age of 20 she had already been married and had one or two kids.
Now a completely different time: up to 30 years a person is looking for himself or herself, looking for what she wants to do and what she wants to get.
In the 21st century, our whole life is simplified: since childhood our parents have been leading us “by the hand” in the adult life, and thanks to the Internet, we absorb a sea of new information from an early age. However, the acceptance of information is not equal to the development of those who absorb it. Yes, I agree. In general, today I think we have two types of young people: those who degrade, and those who develop themselves. To say definitely which group dominates, I can’t. Now many young people are much more successful than their parents at the same age. That’s a 100% illustration showing that the new generation is developing, striving for more, working on themselves, setting goals, achieving them.
And this, I will tell you, is really very cool and commendable. Of course, I even have good examples. If we talk about anti-development, I have an acquaintance who abuses alcohol and cigarettes a lot and says that he is not capable of taking external evaluation exams, just exams for a vocational school (PTU in Ukraine). I don’t think that going to a vocational school is degradation, but if a person keeps on saying “I don’t care and I need nothing…. ” it means a lot. Besides, he says that now all the money is on the Internet, and without any education he will create a channel in Telegram and start earning big money…
Yes, it can be called manifestation of human degradation. But you know, I don’t say that only those who drinks a lot of alcohol, smokes and addicts like the elders would start depredating. In fact, it can be idlers and people without life goals, like ‘Pepsi-Cola people’ who prefer to entertain on the money of their parents.
Well, I really don’t understand those people who do not see the meaning of life. So, I agree, you can meet many people of different age groups that do not have the so called raison d`etre or the meaning of life. But, let’s face it, there is something new among young generation people. It becomes obvious that some people are living full life and getting high from it, and others – just drag their feet on a survival mode? In fact, it’s not about upbringing or some other common things. I think we have a problem inside of us, how we position ourselves in the world, what goals we set ahead of us…
If people do not present themselves as active, smart, and ready to fight, or something like this, then the world will give them just only food crumps from the life table. That really makes sense. But we say no only about the degradation of young people. There are many people who prove that our generation is better than the previous. While speaking about the development side, I have another acquaintance, even a mate from my university, who studies at the faculty of psychology. He is interested in medicine, engaged in sports, studies the structure of the human body, studied English at a conversational level, but already managed to work as a teacher and understand that this is not for him. For his age – these are remarkable achievements, I guess.
A good example. To many of us there is something to learn from him. Yes, we see that there are different people. And of course, everyone is affected by various factors that shape a person as a person. I believe that how a person feels and how she or he positions, in such a way the success will come. Everyone decides for himself or herself whether to believe in something or not, whether to put pressure on yourself or not, to be free and independent or not, to feel life or to ignore it…
In my opinion, it is better to live in peace, to develop ourselves, to learn something new, to realize ourselves, to deepen our knowledge and use it. Our lives give us huge resources, push us forward, teach us how to avoid stresses and how to grow up as a person. Yes, I think we have already realized that every negative phenomenon has a positive side too. That is great that we have someone to follow: they give us examples and either we follow them or not, it depends on every one of us.
