(book review)
An atmospheric ancient China, where charismatic heroes skillfully control unusual weapons (from interesting musical instruments to melee weapons) with the help of magic. Contrasting the struggle for success, recognition and trembling, tender love of the main characters. Are you interested in this? Then I recommend you to read a fantasy novel called “Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation” by the famous in many parts of the world author Mosyan Tunshu.
The work is based on the story of a kind and devoted spellcaster, Wei Wuxiang, who did the impossible. He founded the “Demonic Way”. Having invested all the knowledge for this “evil” creation, the main character lost all the people close to him. Most of them simply turned away from him, because they did not expect that the hero would prefer the dark side of magic. The main desire of Wei Wuxiang is to achieve equality and respect between all clans, but no one understood his idea. In the end, he was stabbed in the back by his own brother and was killed by powerful clans who united to defeat the main character. Interestingly, Wei Wuxian is resurrected in the body of a madman, who was abandoned by all relatives. Leaving the clan, the hero comes across a famous spellcaster – Lan Wanji, his old enemy, who recognizes Wei Wuxiang and takes him with him. This marks the beginning of an exciting but fun adventure of fighting monsters, solving mysteries and raising children. Through mutual flirting along the way, Wei Wuxian gradually realizes that Lan Wanji, seemingly arrogant and indifferent in appearance, has more feelings for Wei Wuxian than he shows. In general, the plot is carefully thought out and full of details. Emotionally intense or vice versa, funny and sweet moments keep the reader’s attention until the last page.
Summing up, I can say that I adore this book. It very successfully combines many diametrically different moments that you will learn about while reading. I highly recommend this novel to people who want to learn something new about the magical world and traditions of China or want to feel the tenderness of love between the main characters. Because these points are well covered by the author in his work. The only disadvantage of the book is the complicated vocabulary. Readers who have not previously been interested in Chinese habits, works or history will find it a little difficult to navigate the names of characters, names of family ties and even the names of dishes. However, I can note that the book has explanations for unfamiliar words at the bottom of the page. The only recommendation from me is to write out these explanations so that after a while you can return and remember the meaning of a word or phrase to understand the plot. But it is all quickly remembered, so everything will be fine! I will be sincerely grateful if you pay attention to this work. Enjoy reading! My rating is 9/10.
