Holly Jackson`s book ‘Good Girl, Bad Blood’

(book review)

Pip is no longer a detective. With the help of Ravi Singh, she released a true-crime podcast about the murder case they solved together last year. The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her. But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing…

I adore Holly Jackson’s books. I write this sincerely as someone who dislikes reading detective stories and thrillers 90% of the time. But this is an exception!

Here, you’ll find an easy writing style and a true-crime atmosphere: photos of evidence, podcast episodes that are part of the book. Important topics are raised: victim blaming, brutal rape, the imperfections of the system. And there are amazing characters as well.

Yes, just like in the first book, I occasionally felt a lack of realism. But these are very minor moments I turned a blind eye to and kept reading. Because, come on, this is literally a detective story about teenagers investigating murders.

As with the first book, I partially figured out who was involved, but not entirely. It’s never that simple there. I want to point out that the ending isn’t something the author pulled out of thin air (just for the sake of a twist). These little crumbs leading readers to the finale are scattered throughout the book. My rating is 9/10.

Pay attention to this series if you have a reading slump. In fact, just read it because it’s amazing!
