How one morning question changed my life

(flash story)

Last autumn, I realized that I always started my day by scrolling through the news. I woke up, reached for my phone — and within ten minutes, I felt anxious. I wanted to run far away or move into a deep basement.

But one day, I stumbled upon a short post by a psychologist. It offered this advice: instead of scrolling through your feed, ask yourself one question in the morning — “What will make my day good?”

I gave it a try the next day. I woke up, sat quietly for a minute, and thought: “If I take at least a 30-minute walk in the park today — it’ll be a good day.”

It worked. All day long, I held on to that simple idea. I went for the walk — and genuinely felt joy. The next morning, I asked myself the same question again. And just like that — it’s been three months now.

It might seem like a small thing. But it changed a lot:

  • I stop starting my day with bad news,
  • I focus on something pleasant,
  • I feel a sense of control and inner calm.

I do recommend trying it: tomorrow morning, simply ask yourself — “What will make my day good?” And you will see how your mood begins to shift.
