I don’t know, actually. But I have some tips on how you can look like a worthy candidate in the eyes of an employer. I guess it is a good idea to start with a functional resume that focuses on your professional skills as opposed to work experience. Grab a pen and take notes!

Make an introduction. Show that you are a human being with your own needs and skills. A professional summary is somewhat like a bio in dating apps: someone is looking for something. Create an attractive ” encouragement” and become a desirable candidate.

Avoid cliches. The recruiter sees more than a dozen “responsible,” “stress-resistant,” “active” candidates every day. Catch his or her eye with fresh vocabulary like “quality-driven,” “versatile,” “upbeat.” Even if you don’t fit in, your words will definitely be remembered and can be quoted to colleagues over a cup of coffee. Coincidences are not random, are they?

Distinguish skills, qualities and qualifications. Of course, they are equally important, but you shouldn’t mix them, it will make you look unprofessional. Skills have been learned from school/college/university/at work or through your hobbies. You have to keep practicing them in order to remain good at them. Qualities come naturally to you. You were born with them, they’re part of your personality. Finally, qualifications are abilities, characteristics, or experience that makes you suitable for a specific job.

Be creative! You can demonstrate your knowledge already in your resume. For example, use your own font, add hyperlinks or interactive elements. Make sure that your document is easy to open and display both on the desktop and on the smartphone.

Use only corporate/work contact details. If there are none, create new ones. You should protect personal information from spammers and unwanted calls. In addition, AnnLovesCats@gmail.com won’t look appropriate in a resume for an art director position.

“Mimicry.” Before submitting, edit your resume so that it mirrors/perfectly describes the ideal candidate. Of course, don’t exaggerate or lie about your skills, but use words that reflect the essence of the search. You can do this in a separate copy (don’t forget to rename it after editing!).

I’ve only included a few side tips, but you can always add more! Look for unusual ways to be present in the labor market, and one day you will be called for an interview! It seems like I will soon have to write about this procedure as well… Well, for now — good luck!
