Legends and Lattes

(book review)

“Legends and Lattes” is a book by Travis Baldree, an American writer, game designer, and audiobook narrator. But today I want to talk about his book, which became a booktok sensation and fell into the hearts of many with its relaxed atmosphere of warm coffee and autumn evenings.

The main character is Viv, an orc who decides to end her profession as a mercenary and start her own business.

The atmosphere of the book is captivating, the characters are well written, each with their own unique character. As for the fantasy world where the events themselves take place, it is well thought up. I especially liked how the author paid attention to the different sizes of fantasy races and included it in the story.

The plot is pleasant, quite simple, there were no sharp story turns as such, it is even somewhat naive in the ways of overcoming problems, because it happens quickly and in the end all the characters turn out to be good and sincerely care about Viv, which is somewhat unrealistic.

The love line is pretty good, it is not too fast and doesn`t feel forced. The very pleasant trope “from friends to lovers.”

The design of the book is wonderful; I can’t say anything bad because I really fell in love with this design. All these festive curls, small pictures before each chapter, a color section with pictures  is incredible. The cover also does not disappoint at all; a very pleasant color scheme, perfectly conveys the atmosphere of a coffee shop and warmth.  My rating is 9/10.
