‘Lockdown’by Doug Liman, A Personal Story And Doubts

(film review)

When I think of 2020, the first things that come to mind are quarantine and coronavirus. It was a difficult time.

Masks quickly became a part of daily life. But finding them was almost impossible. Without a mask, you couldn’t enter a store. People began sewing them at home. The internet was full of videos on how to make your own. The world changed overnight. There were so many questions and hardly any answers.

I kept asking myself: Is COVID-19 really worse than the flu? Why is there so much fear? It seemed like people were overreacting. Soon, conspiracy theories began to spread. The film ‘Locked Down,’ a romantic comedy heist film directed by Doug  Liman, to some extent, explores these ideas. It suggests that fear could have been used on purpose and that the number of victims might not have been fully accurate.

I agree with some of it. There was a similar story in my family. My great-grandfather died in 2021. They did not test him for COVID, but they were ready to write it as the cause of death. Still, this is the only case I know for sure, so I cannot fully trust everything the movie says. As a journalist, I try to look at events from different angles.

Now almost no one talks about the virus anymore. The war has changed everything. But I still want to know more.

Personally, I’m waiting for honest historians to study those events not just as a health crisis, but as a political moment. I want a clear picture, not just memories. I know that it will take time, and that new facts will continue to appear little by little.

As for the film, my rating is just 7/10. However, I think it is worth watching.
