For many Ukrainians, rugby is a mystery familiar only from American films, where big guys run around the field with a ball, breaking each other’s ribs. Meanwhile, behind this tough shell lies not only sport, but also elegant clothing that has conquered the world’s catwalks and become a trend for both men and women. Today, we will not dive into the cruel rules of rugby, but focus on the beauty that emerged from this brutal game. We’re talking about the rugby shirt, a shirt that once served as a shield for players and has now become a fashion must-have.
From the field to the catwalk
Rugby, like many other sports stories, is surrounded by myths, but it is generally believed to have originated in the 1830s at the Rugby School in England. Over the next twenty years, it grew in popularity, and clubs appeared all over the UK. Interestingly, it was the rugby team that was the first to wear the uniform.
