No 1. Zamkova Gora

Frolivka, Zamkova, Kiselyvka, Khorevytsia – this mountain in one of the oldest districts of Kyiv – Podil – has several names, because it has a long history. This place has been described in many books, poems and historical works. It is known not only for the fact that the Kyiv Castle stood here. Khorevytsia is considered one of the Bald Mountains of the capital, because its top has no trees. The mountain seems to “shed” everything superfluous from itself.

Zamkova Gora is also a continuous ancient cemetery. At first, of course, it seems that almost nothing is left of the cemetery: only a dozen crosses, several whole graves, wells and crypts. But in a thick layer of earth, under our feet, entire millennia are buried.

№ 2. Ar-Rahma Mosque

The Ar-Rahma Mosque, which in Arabic means “Mercy”, is not only an architectural gem of Kyiv, but also an important spiritual center for the Muslim community of the capital. Its location on the slope of Shchekavitsa Mountain above Podol is symbolic – as a reminder of the peaceful coexistence of cultures and religions on this land.

The Green Theater (“Zelenka”) is an old metropolitan venue, where various concerts and performances are held. In addition, it is one of the favorite locations of informals and representatives of various subcultures. People often come here to see for themselves the mystical history of this place. There is a legend that ghosts live here, and the walls of the amphitheater make strange, spooky sounds.

№ 4. Zhukov Island

This place is known for the fact that in the late 1930s, the construction of railway tunnels under the Dnieper River was carried out there, shrouded in mystery. Flooded and overgrown concrete giants stand there and now, waiting for their researchers to dispel the veil of military secrecy.

№ 5. Lysa Hora in Vydubychi

Kyiv Lysa Hora is a place of incomprehensible, unbridled energy. According to ancient legends, Slavic tribes worshiped their pagan gods there, later witches, sorcerers and wizards gathered there to communicate with a higher power and nourish themselves with energy. Modern myths tell that there is a powerful geopathic zone in the area of ​​​​the mountain. And they say that wishes made there are unlikely to come true.

№ 6. Oblique Caponir

The Kyiv Fortress is a huge complex covering an area of ​​more than 10 sq. km. Here you can see historical defensive ramparts, wooden fences made of sharp stakes, cannons and loopholes lined up. Once prisoners were kept in the dungeons of the “Oblique Caponir”. There is also a thematic museum with a paid entrance. You can see with your own eyes the conditions of detention and the path of prisoners to death row, to the death row carriage, information about prisoners, etc.

№ 7. Sahara in Poznyaki

An extremely exciting and completely unusual for the capital’s slums is a small desert, next to the Poznyaki metro station. Entering the center of the sand dunes and forgetting for a moment that you were next to the metro station 25-30 minutes ago, you get the lasting impression that you are in the middle of the desert. It is for this feeling that the people of Kyiv called the place “Sahara”.

№ 8. Audiovisual installation “Mirror Field”

Mirror Field is an audiovisual installation based on the symbol of the Tree of Life, which is found in most religions and mythologies of the world. It symbolizes the connection between heaven and earth, the spiritual and material worlds. In different traditions, the Tree of Life represents fertility, wisdom, immortality and rebirth.

The tragedy of Babyn Yar shows how easily this Tree can be destroyed, its branches broken. Today it is the largest installation of the Tree of Life in the world.
