The Coffee Shop Evening

(story)

It was a rainy Thursday evening when James saw her again. Emily, with her book in hand and that familiar smile, was sitting by the window of the small coffee shop they used to visit in college.

He almost walked past, but something pulled him in.

“Mind if I sit?” he asked, slightly nervous.

Emily looked up, surprised—and then smiled.

“Only if you order the same caramel latte you always did.”

They talked for hours, laughing about old stories, catching up on life. Outside, the rain danced on the pavement. Inside, time seemed to slow. The coffee shop, once just a place, became a memory coming alive.

As they stepped out into the rain, James offered his coat. Emily didn’t take it—but she took his hand. It wasn’t just a reunion. It was a quiet promise that something was beginning again.
