‘The Glass of Water’

(miniflash story)

Olena was always in a rush. Her days were packed with deadlines, calls, and notifications. One day, during class, the professor gave the students an unexpected task:

“Imagine you’re holding a glass of water. What happens if you hold it for an hour?”

“My arm gets tired,” someone answered.
“And a whole day?”
“It would go numb,” another student said.
“A week?”
“It would be unbearable,” they replied.

The professor smiled.

“The water is your worries. The longer you hold onto them, the heavier they become. It’s not just about managing problems — sometimes, you need to let them go.”

For the first time in weeks, Olena didn’t reach for her phone after class. She stepped outside and took a deep breath. The glass could wait.
