‘The Intern’

(film review)

‘The Intern’ is a 2015 American comedy film directed, produced and written by Nancy Meyers. The film was released on September 25, 2015, by Warner Bros. The two leading roles belong to Hollywood stars Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. So this film can boast a star-studded cast.

I want to say some words about the plot. I am sure that starting a new job can be a difficult challenge, especially if you are already retired. Feeling bored and looking to get back into the game, 70-year-old widower Ben seizes the opportunity to become a senior intern at an online fashion site. The company dealt directly with the vendors. Ben soon became popular with his younger co-workers, the CEO and the founder of the company. It was really complicated. New faces, new times, new realities. Whittaker’s charm, wisdom and sense of humor helped him develop a special bond and growing friendship with Jules. As a result, they were in a win-win situation for both.

I think that it is more a drama than a comedy, and as a drama it looks good too. To be honest, I can’t stop crying at the end of the film. It happened in the blink of an eye. Moreover, I must admit it is simply a nice story. This film is more than a story about generational differences.  It was really riveting to watch how they remind our generation of the habits that they miss in the old-fashioned classic version. It is also a movie about starting over and doing what you enjoy most of all. The main character accepts this challenge. So you should overstep yourself if you want to achieve something.

My short review. Everything is well-orchestrated and the actor that plays the main role is extremely talented. The plot of the film is fast-moving with some amusing episodes. When you watch it, you dig into the atmosphere by means of sounds and music, costumes and decorations. Characters are believable and likeable. The film is full of humor.

In conclusion, I want to say that it is well worth seeing. It is the film that you want to watch over and over again. To my mind, every family ought to see this deep and kind film with children. My rating is 9.8/10.
