‘A Dog’s Purpose’ by W. Bruce Cameron

(book review)

The book is a heartwarming novel that explores the meaning of life from the perspective of a dog who is reincarnated several times.

‘Dog’s Purpose’ is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog’s many lives, but also a dog’s-eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man’s best friend.  The scenes of how the dog was born and died were described very movingly every time.

The work often features such a literary device as a flashback, as the dog remembers its past lives. This device was particularly well-used. But because of the same flashbacks, the book seemed sad, because the dying dog remembered the riveting moments of his life through the flashback.  And then I was very sad.

But I still recommend this book to be read by everyone, because  this moving and marvelously crafted story teaches us that love never dies, that our true friends are always with us, and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.

I rate this book 10/10.
