A Mysterious Cafe

(miniflash story)

In an old quarter of Lviv, on Rynok Square, there’s a café you won’t find on any map or in guidebooks. It hides behind winding alleys and can only be discovered by chance. There’s no sign, only a peculiar, warm scent of coffee with hints of honey that leads you to heavy oak doors.

Inside, it’s quiet and cozy, like in an old house that still holds whispers of cherished memories. The barista doesn’t wait for your order—they slide a cup toward you as if they’ve always known what you need. The drink is always different: bold espresso, rich hot chocolate, or soothing tea with cardamom. But each time, you feel it’s exactly what your soul craved.

As you leave, you silently promise yourself to return. You turn back to memorize the way, but behind you is only an empty courtyard with cracked tiles. Still, there’s no need for disappointment—the café will welcome you again when the time is right. And when it does, you’ll know it’s been waiting just for you.
