‘From Blood and Ash’ is a book written by Jennifer L. Armentrout.  It’s a book about love and the cruelty of a world where a virgin is trained for years for an important religious ritual, being bound by strict rules. Nevertheless, she secretly breaks them up, because a helpless girl has no place in this deceptive world.

Penelafi (Makivka) secretly goes for walks in the city and beyond. During one of these walks, hiding under a mask, Makivka meets a handsome stranger. He confuses her with a maid with whom he has a date, offering her an entertainment that a Virgo should not even dream of. Soon, this handsome stranger finds himself in the castle where Makivka lives and becomes her new personal bodyguard. The girl is naturally shocked. Though, this is only the beginning of an amusing adventure that makes her doubt almost everything she knows about humanity, the gods, and her mother.

In general, the book has quite detailed descriptions, which deepen the atmosphere of the book. The love storyline is quite splendid and unpredictable, but some moments in the book can still be surmised, which makes the book a bit boring in places. However, after the boring and uninteresting chapters come intriguing and unexpected events that take your breath away and make you want to read another and another chapter. Each part of this series of books ends unexpectedly and makes you want to buy the next part.

In conclusion, I would like to note that this book is the best in the fantasy genre with elements of romance and adventure for me, so I recommend that everyone should read this series of books for those who are interested in this genre. My rating is 9.5/10.
