On April 26, 1986, a terrible event took place – the Chornobyl disaster, which claimed the lives of many people and continues to harm people with its consequences.

There are many theories, videos and photos, and the famous American TV series about Chernobyl, but none of it can even begin to capture the real fear of people in those days. It all started with the fact that the authorities concealed the accident at the nuclear power plant, thus harming not only Ukrainians but also humanity as a whole. Despite this grave crime against humanity, the Soviet government did not stop and went further: it sent untrained people without adequate protection to the site of the disaster. It is believed that about 30 people died at the nuclear power plant that day. This fake figure was recorded by the authorities, but thousands died from the disaster, and it is disgusting to pay our respects to the ‘authorities’ of that period and forget about the victims of this horrible disaster.

Therefore, I do recommend being aware, checking all the information you receive from various sources about Chernobyl. Please, do not forget to light a candle on the day of mourning every year, on April 26. The hearts of Ukrainians are still aching…
