Colors and Emotions

(opinion article)

Colors in branding are effective tools to shortly tell your potential audience the core energy of your brand. Either it’s professionalism by using blue color, passion and strength by using red color or health by using green. Color is a strategic tool that can influence consumer’s perception, emotions, and behavior towards your product. When choosing colors for your brand, it is important to consider not only their appearance, but also their psychological meaning, cultural context and industry specifics.

Color psychology in branding is communicating with your audience without any words. By choosing the right colors and visual elements we can influence people even before telling them about our product.

The right colors for your brand:

  • create visual associations
  • show off brand’s personality
  • appeal to the audience
  • differentiate brand from competitors

In my case I created a logo for future delivery company ‘Wings’ with a colorful parrot on a green background. The logo contains 2 main colors:

  • Green
  • Red

and 2 auxiliary colors:

  • Blue
  • Yellow

And while someone might say that it’s too much to work with, I find it quite universal, playful and versatile. Beside many colors, this logo still remains the visual representation of the brand which is a joyful, careful and family-oriented business. These colors also align with the brand’s core values and appeal to the target audience. Two main colors are

  • red which may represent action, dedication and effectiveness,
  • and green that shows stability, caring and growth.

All of the colors match together quite nicely which makes future web or app designing much easier. We also have already gotten a ready color palette that can meet any of our needs whether it’s planning our social media or elaborating packages and uniforms.

Altogether colorful logos have a higher chance of catching the eye in the sea of competitors. Bright and vibrant colors naturally draw attention, making the brand stand out and be memorable in advertising or digital media. A colorful logo also evokes specific emotions and associations. By choosing these colors, we will be able to create a powerful emotional connection with our potential consumers.
