On the day of the death of Heorhiy Gongadze that happened 24 years ago, a memorial service was held in Kyiv for him and all the dead media workers.

The Church of St. Nicholas on the Embankment, where Heorhiy is buried, has become a symbolic place of commemoration of all fallen media workers. That`s why journalists, their friends and family have been asked to join the memorial service.

From 24.02.2022 more than 90 journalists and media workers died, and it is a tragic reminder of the terrible danger that media workers face during war.

“This day is not only about mourning, but also about recognition of the indomitable spirit and dedication to the profession of our colleagues,” says Serhiy Tomilenko, head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
