I study outside the university and do not miss opportunities

(blog article)

I thought I didn’t like to study, but covid brought such a miracle to my life as distance learning.

Studying at school was like real hell. Boring, uncomfortable clothes, black colour, as if I had come to the funeral of my own time, one-sided teaching methods and early start of classes with unnecessary classes at seven o’clock. The need to go to school made me anxious and hate life.

When the blessed covid brought distance learning into my life, everything changed rapidly. The meetings at seven in the morning, where the teacher read notes that our school is the best, disappeared somewhere, most of the teachers started adding interesting content to the lessons, and I realized that I hated not learning, but the outdated education system.

The new format forced not only teachers, but also students, to adapt. Teachers found more opportunities to add entertainment and independent information search to typical learning, while students had to learn to organize themselves and monitor their own time.

When I started studying at the university, I fell in love with distance learning even more. Now, 90% of everything I study corresponds to my interests and passions. At school, I had already learned to organize my time, so I began to see solid advantages in such training. Guest lectures were held with interesting speakers from all over Ukraine, the quality of education was very high, but I did not have to spend money on the way to him, and thanks to distance learning, I was able to sleep longer.

And then the bloody war came to my house. I understood the main advantage of distance learning: to study, you only need the Internet, so you can study almost anywhere. Some of my friends continue to study at Ukrainian universities even though they have evacuated to other countries.

In the meantime, I found volunteering. Now I work in the office of the Serhiy Prytula Foundation and organize documents. This is very monotonous work, so it not only does not distract from studying, but also helps to focus on it. Yes, sometimes it is not very convenient to answer in the public transport, besides I try to say as little as possible when my colleagues clarify the requests, although I have been told that I do not disturb, but these inconveniences are nothing compared to what I get in return. With the help of volunteering, I feel that I am doing something useful for the country, which helps me feel better, and distance learning helps me combine studying in a speciality that I have dreamed of for as long as I can remember with a job where I am already benefiting society.

Difficult times bring new challenges, and such a flexible system as distance learning helps to accept them.
