Jack

(short story)

Once upon a time in a small coastal village, there lived an old fisherman named Jack. Jack had been fishing the same waters for decades, and his fish catch had been steadily declining. The villagers relied on his catch for their livelihood, and they were growing worried. One day, the village elder approached Jack with a concerned look on his face.

“Jack,” he said, “our village depends on your fishing. But your recent catches have been smaller, and we’re struggling. We need you to figure out why.”

Jack thought for a moment and replied, “Well, I’ve noticed the water temperature has been rising over the years, and the currents have changed. It’s affecting the fish migration patterns, making them harder to catch.”

The village elder nodded and said, “So, if we address the changes in the environment, our fish stocks could improve?”

Jack agreed, “Yes, that’s right. If we work together to protect our coastal ecosystem and promote sustainable fishing practices, we can ensure a better future for our village.”

One year later, the fisher catch of Jack raised a lot. The community working on the same wavelength is a valid force!

P.S. Don`t you think that it looks like an enthymeme with the unspoken assumption that addressing the environmental changes and adopting sustainable fishing practices will lead to improved fish stocks and a better future for the village?
