This is not a story from a famous motivator or an experienced philosopher. This is a story about a courageous young man who can proudly call himself a hero and a rescuer by calling.

Since childhood, he dreamed of helping people, saving lives, and being there for them in their time of need. But until the age of 28, he was unable to find himself in the profession of a rescuer. Despite his impeccable physical fitness and experience in military affairs, he could not be employed because there were plenty of employees.

Having made every effort and won a place in his true favorite profession, the young man became an employee of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Until February 24, he could not even imagine how important and necessary his work would be.

On March 2, a rocket hit a residential building in the suburbs of Kyiv. As a result, a fire broke out and people were trapped in the rubble. The rescue team quickly arrived at the scene of the tragic event. The hero of this story says: “It was immediately clear that the remaining walls of the house were too shaky and could collapse at any moment. It was a big risk for the rescuers to be trapped. But we realized that there were people there, and they were alive. So there was no room for hesitation at that moment.”

The SES team skillfully pulled the residents out from under the rubble. But some people were deep under the rubble. It was the hero of this story who dared to free them. From the beginning of the rescue operation, everything went according to the safety plan, but at the last moment, when the young man pulled a man out from under the rubble, a huge slab fell on him, injuring his left arm and neck. Despite the excruciating pain and shock, the young man pulled the victim out, and then they were both freed by other rescuers.

Risking his life, but without hesitation, the young man saved a human life. At the moment, he is still undergoing rehabilitation, but he is eagerly planning to return to the role of a rescuer in the near future. I think that he is a real hero. He comments: “I was not afraid to die, the main thing is that I followed my true calling – to save”.
