‘Misery’ by Stephen King

(book review)

The book ‘Misery’ by Stephen King, translated into Ukrainian, was published by the ‘Family Leisure Club’ publishing house. The binding is beautifully designed, in accordance with the plot.

The famous writer Paul Sheldon falls into the power of his “most ardent admirer” Annie due to a car accident. As if nothing portends trouble, but the writer’s body and mind are in the power of this woman. Left to his own devices, Paul is locked alone with a mentally ill, unstable, powerful and homicidal person, a man with only one goal – to survive.

Because of Annie’s unpredictable behavior, the writer has to be very careful and pretend to be polite, although this does not always save him. The only thing left in a man is his mind. But it can leave him any day or night, because usually, under such circumstances, the mind is the first one trying to leave the battlefield.

The translation is flawless. The plot is marvelous and fascinating, makes its way to the shivers. The dynamics are over the top, the tension does not let up until the very end. You constantly worry about the main character and wonder, “Will he be able to do it?” I can definitely recommend this thought-provoking novel. Horror fans will definitely appreciate it. My rating is 5/5
