(derailed fairy tale)
Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom, there lived a royal family. One day, the queen became pregnant, but her health weakened, and the only thing she could eat was Rapunzel`s salad. It grew only in a magical forest, where an evil and powerful witch lived. By royal order, the servants secretly ventured there to collect this salad.
However, soon the witch found out about it and became very angry. The king tried to explain to her that this salad was necessary for his pregnant wife, and the witch allowed it, but on the condition that she would take the child away when it was born. Of course, the royal couple did not agree, but the witch kept her promise, and when the baby was born, she kidnapped it and raised it as her own daughter, whom she named Rapunzel.
The girl was very pretty and had very beautiful, shiny golden hair. When Rapunzel turned 12, her hair had grown so long that the witch locked up the girl in a high tower with no doors, and every time the witch returned home, she repeated the words, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair, so that I may climb thy golden stair,” after which Rapunzel would lower her hair out of the window so that the witch could climb it like a rope. The witch never allowed Rapunzel to go out, which made her feel lonely and miserable.
One day, a handsome young prince was walking through a magical forest and heard someone singing a song. It was Rapunzel. The prince followed the voice and saw the girl. They met and fell in love. The lovers continued to see each other in secret from the witch and even devised an escape plan. However, one day the witch returned home early, just as the couple was attempting to escape. She was so furious that she cast spells on Rapunzel’s hair. “Now your beautiful long perfect hair will no longer be the same. Soon it will lose its shine, will be dull, tangled and will always be naughty, causing trouble to you and everyone around you. The spell will only be broken if you go back to the tower,” said the witch.
“Never!!” shouted the girl and ran away with her prince.
“Hmm, it seems the foolish witch’s spell didn’t work, as your hair is still incredibly beautiful and shiny,” said the prince. “Indeed,” said Rapunzel. The happy couple got married and began to live in the royal palace.
The fame of Rapunzel’s amazing golden hair spread throughout the kingdom and beyond. People came to admire the amazing princess. But the joy did not last long. Every day, Rapunzel’s hair became worse: it lost its shine, a glittering golden hue, but the worst thing was that it became very tangled and unruly. When the servants tried to comb it, the combs broke, and the hair became even more tangled, and once almost strangled one of the maids. The situation only got worse every day. As the witch said, because of this, it brought trouble for Rapunzel and everyone around her.
The kingdom was unhappy. Rapunzel has already decided to suggest returning to the witch’s tower just to spare others from her hair-related troubles. “No, my darling, there must be another solution! We must outsmart the wicked witch, she cannot win!” denied the prince. The prince and Rapunzel decided that they needed to find a way to restore Rapunzel’s hair to its former beauty without returning the girl to the witch’s tower. They turned to a wise fairy who lived in a magical forest and asked her for help. The fairy listened to their story and said, “Rapunzel, your beauty is first and foremost inside, not just in your hair. True beauty is much deeper than just appearance. To break the witch’s spell, you need to open your heart and let go of your past.”
Young Rapunzel was confused, thinking about how to save her kingdom and save her hair from the witch’s spell. The princess pondered the fairy’s words for a long time and realized that true beauty comes from love and kindness. One day she decided that maybe the answer was right in front of her. She took the scissors, and she cut off her extremely long golden hair. After that, she started helping other people, and her heart blossomed with love and kindness.
Soon a miracle happened: her hair began to change its appearance, although it was no longer so lengthy and golden, but now it was smooth and splendid again. Rapunzel’s hair no longer tangled and caused problems for her and people all around her, and thanks to the princesses’ good deeds, the kingdom blossomed and became happy again.
When the witch found out about this, she got angry and tried to return Rapunzel back to the witch’s tower. But this time Rapunzel was strong and determined. She didn’t let the witch hold her back. The witch got so enraged that she just burst out.
Rapunzel and the prince lived happily ever after, without the burden of a spell and long hair. Their story serves as an example that sometimes you need to find an unconventional way to overcome difficulties, and a change in image can have incredible consequences.
