The city of Mariupol and its legendary Azovstal plant became the epicenter of hostilities during the invasion. Already in early March 2022, Russian troops began large-scale shelling of the city, trying to capture important strategic facilities.

But it was on the territory of Azovstal that the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian military continued. For more than two months, the defenders held their positions, experiencing not only air and artillery attacks, but also extremely difficult conditions associated with the lack of water, food and medicine.

The defenders of Azovstal became a symbol of the invincibility of the Ukrainian spirit, and even after the plant was captured by Russian troops, their heroism did not go unnoticed.

Role of support shares

Azovstal support actions have become an important part of information warfare and moral support. They include forms ranging from peaceful demonstrations and rallies to online campaigns and fundraising to help the families of fallen defenders. The participants of these actions express solidarity with those who defended the independence of Ukraine and remind the world of the importance of preventing the forgetting of these heroic acts.

One of the most significant actions was the initiative to raise funds to support the families of the fallen soldiers, as well as to treat wounded soldiers. Volunteers organized meetings, and famous artists, businessmen and politicians joined the actions, helping to raise significant sums for Ukrainian heroes.
