“No one can see me, no one knows me…”
Taras Shevchenko

• Taras Shevchenko was not high – a little more than 164 cm.
• Taras’ favorite drink was rum tea.
• In 1975, one of the craters on Mercury was named after Taras Grigoryevich Shevchenko.
• 1384 – so many monuments to Taras Shevchenko are installed in the world. Of these, there are 1256 monuments in Ukraine, and other 128 in 35 countries of the world – Brazil, the USA, China, etc. The first monument to Taras Shevchenko was erected in 1881 in the city of Fort Shevchenko.
• The least edition of Kobzar in the world is about half a square millimeter, which is less than poppy grain. Created by Ukrainian master Nikolai Syadristy. You can only sheet the pages of the collection with the tip of an aggravated hair because of their incredibly tiny size.
• During his life, Kobzar was more appreciated as an artist than as a poet. He was a favorite student of Karl Bryullov, and in 1860 he was awarded the title of Academician of Engraving from the Imperial Academy of Arts for engraving a painting by Rembrandt ‘Proverbs’ about workers in a vineyard.
• 500 m – the area of the largest portrait of Kobzar. It was written in Kharkov on the wall of a 17-story building at 30 Sadovy passage, and is included in the Book of Records of Ukraine. Graffiti were painted at night for two weeks.
