The Love Hypothesis

(Review)

‘The Love Hypothesis’ by Ali Hazelwood is a riveting romantic comedy that combines a scientific atmosphere and passionate feelings.

The book invites the reader into the world of Stanford University, where a young researcher, Olivia Bennett, decides to set up an experiment: is it possible to fall in love with a person if you follow a certain algorithm?

This novel is a fresh breath in the modern romantic genre. The author successfully combines the scientific atmosphere with the sincere feelings of the heroes. The story of Olivia and Adam captures from the first pages and does not let go until the very end.

“It will be a classic rom-com,” with this thought I began to read this book.

So it turned out… but not quite.

The plot was predictable for me from the moment I read the prologue and the first chapter.

Even though I could grab a lot of spoilers from other readers of this book, it didn’t work out that way. I scrolled through any reviews or “memes” about this book at the speed of light.

I love rom-coms for the fact that it is very easy to understand what will happen next. It’s not bad. Sometimes, when you read thrillers and detectives all the time, the novel will be like a breath of fresh air between them.

Separately, I want to highlight how Ali Hazelwood describes the inequality of women in the book: sexualization and harassment.

I cannot forget that there are professional terms in the books that made me remember chemistry lessons in order to, at least somehow, understand the tales and not just sit with a look too smart for my own good, as if something was understood.

In general, the book is suitable for everyone who likes to laugh, think and smile while reading the book. I liked the light style compared to the literature I read.

This was definitely not my last book by this author. My rating is 9/10.
