One day in the spring, a student of Boris Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University named Kateryna decided to look at the weather forecast for the following day on Sunday evening to know how she should dress for the university tomorrow. That forecast called for a gale warning, gusty winds, downpours, and a high chance of hail.

“Hurray! This is a sign from heaven itself not to go to class tomorrow!” the girl thought. Therefore, she did not start preparing homework for Monday. Instead, she went for a walk with her friends and enjoyed the May evening in Kyiv. And already at night, it really started to rain pitchforks. Katya calmly went to bed. Then she woke up and went about her business. But later in the daytime news program, the girl saw the information that sent a chill down her spine.

There it was reported that during the bad weather, already in the morning, at seven o’clock, due to a gusty wind with hail, a big old poplar tree fell right on the crosswalk, as a result of which the girl died on the spot. Katya got more shocked when the correspondent said that it turned out to be a student about her age, and also from her university (however, Katya did not know her personally). “Today, this student is not able to get to the university and, unfortunately, she will never be able to again,” were the last words of the journalist about this terrible incident.

Kateryna took the remote control with trembling hands and turned off the TV. She ran to her mother, who was working on a laptop in the next room, told her this horrible news and shouted: “And you, mother, called me a truant that I don’t want to study. Do you see how a girl wanted to study?! She wished so much that she did not notice any signs from heaven itself. Even this apocalypse outside the window did not stop her. So where is she now? She is gone. Do you hear me? She is gone. DEAD!”
