(article)

Book Country’ turned VDNG into a real literary paradise for 4 days. Hundreds of fans of BOOKS drowned in the ocean of paper worlds, bought their wishes and attended various events. The air was saturated with the aroma of fresh printing and the smell of coffee; it was filled with enthusiastic shouts and whispers of conversations about favorite works. Children looked at the bright illustrations with interest, and adults turned the pages of new books with affection.

The second autumn festival, ‘Book Country,’ was more extensive than the first attempt. There was much more entertainment for children; this time, even adults could find something splendid for themselves. And most importantly, most of the events were free.

This year’s Book Country festival confirmed the trend of Ukrainians’ growing interest in modern Ukrainian literature, breaking its previous record in terms of attendance.

The works of young authors who made their debut on the literary market were especially popular. Such as Maria Margulis and her book ‘The White Room,’ Vitaly Dulenko and his book ‘The Lighthouse.’ According to the organizers, the greatest demand was for books on psychology, the history of Ukraine, and fiction.

A significant event was the joint reading of Stus’s books for a while. More than a hundred people took part in this event.

A bright event of the festival was a meeting with the famous Ukrainian writer Vasyl Shklyar, whose autograph session lasted more than 3 hours. The hall was full of fans of his works. The writer talked about the process of creating his new novel, answered numerous questions from readers and happily signed books.

For the first time in Ukraine, at the festival itself, readers discovered the new ‘Yes’ publishing house, which started working only on the first day of the event at VDNG. The publishing house ‘Tak’ showed itself from the best side and touched my soul with its original announcements, which had already been presented.

In addition, publishing houses gave discounts for the book event, and you could buy books at a discount or get another book, merch, shopper or curiosity from the publishing houses.

This was a good chance to get a book and bright emotions at the same time. Every book lover should visit such a festival at least once a year.
