THE FLYING PIES

(flash story)

In a small town known for its peculiar inhabitants, there was a baker named Mr. Pumpernickel who had a secret obsession with flying pies. Yes, you heard it right, flying pies! He had spent years in his hidden basement laboratory, perfecting the art of pie propulsion.

One sunny day, Mr. Pumpernickel decided it was time to unveil his creation to the world. He set up a booth at the town’s annual fair, complete with a sign that read “Pies That Fly!” People gathered, expecting delicious treats, but were met with astonishment as Mr. Pumpernickel’s pies defied gravity.

He launched a cherry pie, which soared through the air, leaving a trail of whipped cream behind it. A blueberry pie did loop-de-loops, and a pecan pie even managed a perfect landing in a nearby haystack. The crowd erupted in laughter and applause.

However, things took a hilarious turn when a mischievous gust of wind sent a pumpkin pie directly toward the mayor’s face. The mayor ended up with a pie mustache, while Mr. Pumpernickel stood in shock, trying to explain that it was all part of the show.

The pie-throwing spectacle became the talk of the town, and soon, the annual “Pie-Flying Contest” became a cherished tradition. Mr. Pumpernickel’s bakery prospered, and he finally found a way to combine his love for baking and aviation.

And so, in that peculiar little town, Mr. Pumpernickel’s flying pies became a symbol of joy and silliness, bringing laughter and merriment to every fair and festival.
