A Ukrainian translation of the Geronimo comic has recently been published, so today I will talk about a character known to children from almost all over the world.

One of my favorite series about Geronimo Stilton is extremely popular all around the world! It has been translated into 49 languages and has sold 180 million copies worldwide. This makes it one of the most successful book series in the history of book publishing. Mice become the main characters of these books, and the events are concentrated in the town of Myshania on Mouse Island. And at first it was even said that the author of these comics is also… a mouse!

The first books of the series were published by Geronimo Stilton, the namesake of the main character. Only later did the publishers find out that the author was the Italian writer Elisabetta Dami. She knows very well the peculiarities of large publishing houses, as she was born into a publisher’s family and began her professional career as a proofreader in the family publishing house.

The main character of the series, Geronimo Stilton, is a journalist and publisher of the newspaper “Rodent”. He not only holds a high position, but also has respectable authority among colleagues and readers. Stilton is a rather conservative mouse; he categorically does not like extremes and does not encourage activities that force him to leave his comfort zone. But when it comes to an exclusive interview, a fascinating report, a hot news item or a hot sensation, Geronimo is ready to do anything to get the information.

In these professional adventures, he is usually accompanied by family and friends. Most often, it is Teia – the younger sister of Geronimo, an adventurer and lover of adventures; Trapp is a funny and slightly clumsy cousin of Geronimo, who is always fascinated by something new, which creates awkward situations or saves the whole company; Benjamin, Geronimo’s nephew, is very energetic and inquisitive.

The wild popularity of the adventures of the reporter mouse inspired the creation of additional content. Especially visual, because a comic in which the appearance of the characters is drawn with recognizable details provides an excellent basis for this.
