The End of Change’ by Stephen King

(book review)

A change is as good as a rest.”
― Stephen King

It was one of the first books that introduced me to Stephen King and it really made an impression on me. This is the final part of Bill Hodges’ trilogy (I haven’t read the previous two, so before reading any book I recommend checking if it’s part of a series.). But the story in the book looks complete.

This detective story cannot be considered a classic, as the reader is introduced to the villain and his crimes almost immediately. Brady Hartsfield drives people to suicide and commits mass car murder. Stephen King created such an anti-hero, who impresses with his intelligence and at the same time repulses with terrible actions. Bill Hodges, although not young, but he is in no way inferior to the main anti-hero. He also skillfully unravels villain’s plan and prevents another disaster.

The author plays on the modern man’s fear of the fatal impact of technology on his behavior. Not so long ago, the Internet was gripped by panic over death groups, that is, communities in social networks that encouraged teenagers to commit suicide. This problem worries people and Stephen King fully discloses it in his novel.

The story gives me goosebumps. A very high-quality and dynamic detective story that constantly keeps you in suspense. My rating is 5/5.
