(Book review)

Do you have dreams when you sleep? If so, what are they? Scary, splendid, full of unexpected twists that seem completely logical, albeit unusual?

This is exactly the series of books “The raven boys” by Maggie Stiefvater. You read and dream. In this story you will not find majestic descriptions or super painted dialogues. Oh no, there will be a forest that speaks a strange mixture of Latin and the language of dreams, there will be legends about ancient kings, there will be the magic of tarot cards and the atmosphere of a small town full of mysteries.

So, let’s start with acquaintance. We see five people. High school students. A girl with an unusual name Blue and clothes sewn by hand, whose family has witches and fortune tellers. Hansie, a guy who’s old and young at the same time, looking for his king. Adam is an excellent boy who desperately needs to escape into the big world, to escape from the cage that is his home. Ronan is a hooligan to who everything turned out. He has a half-body tattoo, a bald head and is fluent in Latin. Noah – what can I tell about this guy, without spoilers? Oh, I don’t even know, let’s just say he has blond hair.

For the four books we do with them, the characters aren’t changing, no, they just grow up, become family, and most importantly, you become a part of that.

Throughout the reading, you feel like a dreamer, and the whole reality is perceived in a very strange combination of emotions and vivid images. And a little spoiler, I cried for the first time through the woods.

These books are full of something striking that is very difficult to describe in words, because you perceive them as if all your senses start functioning at once and it is incredibly fascinating and addictive, showing you an interesting dream.
