Since 2020, all students and schoolchildren have faced a new reality – distance learning. For many people, it was something beyond comprehension, especially for older people. Nevertheless, this situation surrounds us for the third year. It is impossible to change it now, so it is curious to consider the pros and cons of this form.

Let’s start with the cons. Parents of elementary school children complain that they are forced to leave their children at home alone, and it is dangerous. They need to either not go to work or pay a babysitter. This is indeed a dilemma. Added to this, it is difficult to make a child sit still and even just look at the monitor. Such training is not interesting. For older children, I don’t see significant disadvantages, so let’s talk about the pros.

I remember returning home in the evening during full-time studies. This is about those who need to go to school or university. It relates to the majority of such students. Online learning does not require movement, and it saves time that can be spent on recreation. Another plus, in my opinion, is the lack of social tension during classes. Some people find it difficult to answer in front of the class; for them, it is a tense atmosphere, close to the stage fright. Distance learning solves this problem for nervous children. And finally, distance learning is an opportunity to not miss classes even while being sick. Then students will not miss teachers’ explanations, and therefore such learning is more effective.

Everyone now has the technical ability to study online. Everyone was forced to follow this practice. But I am sure that in the future, this form will become commonplace. Because technology is the future.

As for the minuses, they are not significant. Socializing? You always can call your classmates and get together in some relaxed atmosphere…
