Insolence Causes Trouble

(miniflash story with a hubris)

The townspeople gathered around Theophilus, a local winemaker.

“I have such a delicious wine that Dionysus will simply lose consciousness from its taste and sleep like a child!” he boasted to the Athenians.
This is what the god of winemaking heard from the Heavens. He asked his father Zeus to send a storm on the city. In the sound of rain, Dionysus threatened Theophilus to change his pride for kindness and offered a bull in sacrifice for the apology. The winemaker just laughed in response.
Then an enraged Dionysus turned into a cat and descended from the Heavens to the winery of the audacious.
“Ha-ha, this stupid god thinks I’m afraid of him, how naive he is! I’ll bring you some more delicious wine now,” the mere mortal continued to boast and went to the wine cellar.
When he tried to get the tallest and oldest pot, the cat-god came to his feet and began to cuddle. Theophilus fell on the shelf and smashed all his wine supplies.
“You’ll know how not to obey us, that’s your punishment until the next grape-harvest!” shouted Dionysus, and, turning into a god, he flew again to Olympus.
