Saving A Drowning Man By Straw and Rain

(flash story with business idioms)

Mark stood on the balcony and smoked. The fog of his thoughts covered him. His business had just failed and now he didn’t know what to do or where to go. His hands were tied by debt and lack of money to start a new business.

‘Need company?’ asked Serge, his old friend. ‘I’d be happy to have a company with money…’ Mark replied sadly. ‘Cheer up, dude. Things aren’t that bad.’ ‘Tell that to my debts,’ Mark sarcastically replied.

After a long conversation about the situation, Serge offered help and a possible idea for a new profitable business:

‘Dude, this can really change everything. I just need someone I can trust.’ ‘And what about money? Remember, I have debts like ornaments on a Christmas tree.’ ‘I can hire you as my assistant. So what?’

Mark had some doubts.

‘Remember that accident six years ago? My business was destroyed. I was on the same boat as you are now. But you helped me then. Now I want to help you. You know, a friend in need is a friend indeed…’

Mark stared at his sidekick. He put out his cigarette and held out his hand:

‘Okay, boss. Let`s keep on keeping on.When will we start?’

‘That’s the spirit! However, you`ll be up to ears at work!’ Serge shook hands and smiled. ‘I think you can start tomorrow.’
