October 1, 2020. The largest falafel, 27 meters and 87 centimeters long, was cooked on Kontraktova Square in Kyiv. This was done by the chefs of the vegan network “Green13”, the team of the Ecological Alternative, as well as volunteering Kyivans, in particular, students of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

The location of the record is not accidental – near the monument to Hryhoriy Skovoroda, one of the spiritual leaders of the Ukrainian people, who was a vegetarian before it became a mainstream.

It is no coincidence that the date of the event — October 1 — World Vegetarian Day. After all, veganism does not require the slaughter and exploitation of animals and is directly related to the concern for the environment and climate of the planet. The more people give up meat, the lower the need to increase the amount of industrial livestock that is harmful to the planet.

What are the environmental benefits?
