My grandfather worked as an Italian language teacher. And my grandmother knew only a few phrases.

Once the phone rang, she picked up the phone. There she heard somebody chatting and chatting in Italian. Well and the grandmother without being confused answered with a phrase circling in her mind at that moment, “Non mangio da sei giorni.”

There was some pause…Then they mumbled something in Italian again and hung up.

The next day it turned out that it was called by a student of my grandfather, who was that student`s tutor, and my grandmother reported that she had not eaten for six days. So after that the mother of this student raised the fee to my grandfather not permitting him to starve.
